Ant-Man (2015) Movie Review

  In “Ant-Man” a former theif tries to reconnect with his daughter around the same time he gets out of prison. Around this time, he must become a superhero both for his daughter and for the good of science.   Ant-Man may seem cliche (and it is) but it packs more punch than most less passable films. The film has some surprising performances (including by the usually-great Paul Rudd and his thieving peers [also Michael Douglas, of course]) and at times generates actual laughter.  Ant-Man also features some of the most inventive action scenes in most of Marvel moviedom. The shrinking of Paul Rudd’s character allows for many variables that make the action scenes genuinely exciting (especially during scenes where there are actual narrative stakes, of which there are more than enough).  However, if you are not a fan of big CGI spectacles you will of course be disappointed.
