Furiosa: a Mad Max Saga (2024) Movie Review

 In Furiosa, we witness the origin of Mad Max Fury Road character…Furiosa. We watch her journey to survive and adapt to the post-apocalyptic world of Mad Max.

This film has a lot going for it: good performances, kinetic action, and a constant sense of momentum. If you’re comparing it to Mad Max Fury Road (which this is a prequel to, so comparisons are unavoidable) then it may be a step down, but it stands well on its own for all these elements.

Anya Taylor-Joy is electric as Furiosa, but even more electric is Chris Hemsworth (deliberately overacting his own natural accent) to play a villain we love to hate and can’t look away from. We look forward to seeing him getting what’s coming to him, and Furiosa’s revenge goal in his direction keeps us engaged.

While the film has all the elements that make Fury Road work, the film is about as brutal as one would expect. Your mileage may vary on how much violence you can take, but it absolutely works within the material.

It’s absolutely worth watching to form your own opinion. If you expect it to be a perfect replica ion everything good about Fury Road, then don’t do that; just go in with expectations you have of every other movie and you’ll be whisked away.

Production Journal for 'Roomies' Production (January-July 2023)

Introduction My name is Logan Tyler Smith. Sometime in 2019, when I was getting really into filmmaking (specifically the works of Kevin Smith and Quentin Tarantino, as most film buffs get into), I came up with a title: Roomies. I hadn't really had a full idea at this point, but I knew it would be a good title for a 90s-early 2000 style indie film.  That is, I didn't have a full idea until August 2022.  I fleshed out the idea into a well-formed outline and knew that if I wanted to finally make a feature-length film, this outline would be the way to do it.  At this point in my career, I had only made short films, but I decided it was time to finally make my feature length directorial debut. WHY I’M TAKING A BREAK FROM LOGANLAND RANTS by Logan Tyler Smith Hey guys.
